How these sales work
Alabama counties choose between two enforcement methods: a tax lien auction, where investors bid down the interest rate on the delinquent taxes, and the older tax sale, which conveys a redeemable tax certificate. Mobile County, for example, runs an online tax lien auction each spring.
A home a federal agency or government-sponsored enterprise took back after a foreclosure on a loan it insured or owned, now resold through its own program.
