What TACS Virginia Tax Sales sells

TACS Virginia Tax Sales is run by a county, city, court officer or local authority, so the sale follows state law as applied by that local office. The office responsible is Taxing Authority Consulting Services (VA locality tax-sale counsel). Its listings are mostly real estate in Virginia.

We read the seller's public web pages and notices, check it on a regular schedule, add new listings as they appear and mark listings closed once the seller stops offering them or the sale date passes.. Each listing on GovAuctionAlerts links back to the official record, where you register, bid and pay under the seller's own rules.

How these sales work

Tax sale (deed)

The county sells the property itself to recover unpaid taxes. The minimum bid is usually the delinquent taxes, interest and costs.

Bidding often starts at the amount owed, well below market value, but other liens may survive the sale.
Some states give the former owner a redemption window after the sale; the deed is not final until it lapses.
Access is limited before the sale; buyers rely on public records, drive-bys and the assessor's data.
Winning bidders usually pay in full within hours or days; many counties require pre-registration and a deposit.
